Where Sanchez Unit Releases Go

Leaving Rogelio Sanchez Unit can mean parole, mandatory supervision, full discharge at maximum expiration, transfer to another state unit, or movement into a TDCJ-contracted residential placement. Parole and mandatory supervision release a person from physical prison while the sentence continues under supervision. A flat discharge ends the sentence. A transfer changes the location but does not release the person from TDCJ custody.

Sanchez is also a regional release location. An individual may be brought there for a scheduled release even if another TDCJ unit held the person earlier. The scheduled release location therefore does not always describe the full incarceration path. Confirm a Sanchez Unit Release

2. Review current location or status and present and prior TDCJ incarceration offenses.
3. Check sentencing county and court, sentence length, and incarceration history.
4. Read projected, parole-review, and any scheduled release date and location fields carefully.
5. For a completed event, look for a past date and status, then seek an agency response if the display remains unclear.

A “Projected Release Date” is a calculation, not proof that release occurred. A “Scheduled Release Date” and “Scheduled Release Location” can appear after release-certificate processing, yet TDCJ warns scheduling can change. Sanchez is a TDCJ Correctional Institutions Division unit for men. The published capacity is 1,100. Custody categories include J1 through J2, G1, G2, and transient custody. Its programs include pre-release and reentry planning, but the official status record, rather than program enrollment, verifies that someone actually left the unit.

Transient custody helps explain why presence at Sanchez on one date does not prove it was the sentencing unit or final long-term placement. A move from Sanchez to another state unit remains incarceration. Search statewide history and location rather than treating a unit-level absence as release.

Sanchez Release-Day Logistics

TDCJ identifies Sanchez as a regional release location. State releases generally occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, subject to schedule changes. Family members should call before traveling because even a posted scheduled date can change without notice.

Eligible people may receive a bus ticket to the station nearest an approved residence, or may be picked up at the release site. Projected, Scheduled, and Completed Dates

TDCJ Classification and Records calculates the projected date using the sentence, offense title and date, jail credit, good-time classification, and applicable mandatory-supervision law. Board decisions, required programs, a release plan, detainers, new commitments, disciplinary cases, and recalculation can change the path. The projected date answers when incarceration is expected to end if parole does not occur sooner under the applicable rules.

After approval and release-certificate processing, a scheduled date and location may appear. TDCJ audits the calculation before release and still warns that the date can change, even on the scheduled day. Once release occurs, combine the past date, current status or location, incarceration history, and parole information. “Parole” and “mandatory supervision” mean supervised release. “Discharged” or maximum expiration points to sentence completion.

Residential Placement Is Not Flat Discharge

El Paso has two TDCJ-contracted residential reentry centers on Horizon Boulevard: CoreCivic El Paso Multi-Use Facility North and El Paso Transitional Center South. A resident has left prison but remains in a controlled residential placement under Parole Division supervision. Do not describe that transition as unrestricted community living or a flat discharge.

Confirmation should join the TDCJ status with the responsible district parole office. A residential center is not an EPCSO jail and does not publish a county recent-release list. Likewise, parole is different from El Paso County community supervision, which administers court-ordered probation, and from county pretrial supervision. A detainer can delay or redirect an otherwise expected TDCJ release. Obtaining a TDCJ Release Record

Ask for actual release or discharge date and type, incarceration history, destination or receiving agency for a transfer, and the release certificate if it is public. Request a photograph separately if needed and releasable.

TDCJ also offers a free email-information fallback. With the full name and TDCJ number, or sufficient alternatives such as birth date or approximate age and county, the agency may provide the number, current location, present and prior incarceration offenses and counties or courts, and projected release date.
